The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Brunei Darussalam then joined on 8 January 1984, Viet Nam on 28 July 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat is the nerve centre of ASEAN, a regional inter-governmental organisation founded in 1967, to promote peace and stability, sustained economic growth, shared prosperity and social progress. Technical Officer/ Economic Analyst

Requirements
* We are seeking qualified candidates with the following qualifications:
* At least Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Finance with strong academic records. MA or equivalent preferred.
* At least 3 years relevant working experience in conducting macroeconomic and policy research in academe or research institution. Those with experience in coordinating programs/projects will be given preference.
* Good English language skills;
* Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel and Power Point) and use of statistical/economic program and software;
* Able to work independently as well as in a team in a multicultural environment;
* Able to perform coordination tasks, undertake multiple assignments, and work irregular and long hours; and
* Able to travel, as and when required.
Technical Officer External Economic Relations

Requirements
* Bachelor degree in economics, management, or related fields from a reputable university;
* A minimum three (3) years relevant work experience in technical capacity;
* Demonstrated strong knowledge in trade policy, research and technical skills in the relevant area and ability to acquire them; working knowledge of the WTO would be an advantage;
* Proven skills in problem solving in a complex organisational environment and in work planning;
* Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policies and procedures;
* Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines;
* Good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings;
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders;
* Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices;
* Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
